Jennifer Gonzalez, MSW
Registered Clinical Social Worker Intern
Hi there, and welcome. I am so glad you are taking the time to read this. It takes courage to seek help and finding the right helper who will validate your experiences and help you grow is crucial.
I believe everyone has the capacity to grow and heal – even from the most difficult of life’s challenges. Ultimately, you hold the roadmap to your own emotional well-being. My role is to journey alongside you and be persistently encouraging and provide you with honest, direct feedback when it feels like you have lost your way and support you when moving forward alone is too difficult.
I entered to clinical social work field after spending almost two decades as a journalist (working at various newspapers around the country) and more recently as a nonprofit communications professional. I made the career switch because I grew tired of just writing about people’s stories of struggle and not being able to help in a deeper, more meaningful way.
I am currently a post-master’s Registered Clinical Social Work Intern in the state of Florida and working toward full licensure. I earned my Master of Social Work at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
When I am not working, you will likely find me roaming the aisles of a bookstore – in search of my next beach read, drinking iced coffee, or indulging in all things chocolate. I am a lover of Craftsman style homes, a fervent social justice advocate, a cool aunt to four amazing nieces and nephews, and a devoted Hallmark Channel movie watcher.
More about my therapeutic approach.
Life is often hard, and you do not have to go it alone. I am here if you are seeking to build stronger attachments in your relationships, navigating significant life transitions, processing the pain and complexity of grief and loss, feeling stuck or unsure of your life’s path, struggling with your identity, or wanting to better understand how your past experiences inform your present-day decisions.
I will meet you wherever you are with curiosity, humor, warmth, and non-judgment and provide a space where you feel safe, accepted, and understood. Therapy does not always have to be serious. We can have moments of laughter too.
I utilize proven treatments and modalities such as psychodynamic therapy, attachment theory, solution-focused brief therapy, cognitive-behavior therapy, emotionally focused therapy, and interpersonal psychotherapy that allows for deep introspection as well as opportunities to build toward solutions.
Why going to therapy does not mean you are weak or flawed.
Seeking help is the opposite of being weak. It takes courage to recognize that you need help. Nobody would expect us to take care of a cancer diagnosis or a broken leg on our own. Mental health issues are serious, and not seeking help is harmful.
Being human is complicated and we do not have all the answers. Talking to a professional and discovering aspects about yourself that you did not even know existed is an invaluable investment in your emotional well-being – and one that will have a lasting effect for you and those around you.
I welcome the opportunity to assist you in your journey toward living a life with more clarity, resilience, and authenticity. Feel free to reach out today.
